Job Prospects

I am working on a job prospect where I will be doing almost the exact job duties for a company that my grandfather did for Mountain Bell.

I spent the first seven years of my life with my grandparents. My grandfather was a Central office and Microwave Tower Installation Manager. I spent my days with my grandpa in central offices and microwave stations around Montana.

It will make life sort of a full circle, ending up where I started.

Qualifications

I have had the opportunity to be involved with many aspects of the telecommunications industry: Primarily Sales Engineering. In this role I assist sales with technical aspects of products in presentations to customers. I do the design of the solution, estimating equipment and labor, specification of hardware and resources. When the project is sold, I organize the resources and manage the projects to completion. My primary customers at CenturyLink/Qwest were very large global sized accounts. The projects I worked on were from a few thousand dollars to millions of dollars.

Prior to this I was a communications technician that specialized primarily in PBX installations and maintenance, and High-Speed Data Applications. I have established and maintained a positive working relationship with various large accounts within the QWEST/CenturyLink customer base.

Update 2012-12-06

I have a few projects in the works. I was sort of hoping to stay in telecommunications, but the projects coming forth are wildly diverse from telecommunications. Perhaps this is an opportunity in disguise.

I have revised my Resume. You will have to ask for the password to access it from here.

CCDA Class in Denver

I am at a CCDA boot camp at our corporate training center. It is similar to the old BellCore training centers I have been to in the past. “All inclusive” well, almost, the food is not free anymore. It is a hotel, restauraunts and classrooms/labs all in one center, in this case, buiilding. It is more modern than the BellCore schools I have been to in the past in architecture but I imagine it was a BellCore school before divestiture.
The place smells like machine oil and ozone. This brings back memories of my childhood when I lived with my grandparents. My grandfather was a CO installation crew manager. I often went to work with him so I spent my very young years in central offices around the state.
